TikTok is great for people who want to indulge in hours upon hours of content, for creators of all backgrounds, and now for brands who want to sell their products. With the rise of e-commerce and online shopping, TikTok will not be left behind: TikTok Shop is an ecommerce platform integrated within the app. 

There are three main ways to shop on TikTok Shop: live shopping, shoppable videos, and product showcases. Let’s start off by exploring who is using this new feature and then review how to get started!

Ways to Set Up TikTok Shop

The short-form video platform has created three native ways to shop within the app, making it easy to create a shopping experience that your customers will love. 

Live shopping

Viewers can shop directly from a Live by tapping on the pinned products or by tapping the shopping basket icon and browsing from there.

How to use live shopping

This feature can be used to push an audience to the next step when they are actively engaging with you. For example, go live showing off one of your products in action and use the live shopping feature to pin products and make them easy to find.

Shoppable videos

Users can shop from an in-feed shoppable video. Simply tap the product link and basket icon!

Make products accessible any time with a shoppable video. Shoot a TikTok that features your product in use and add the link to the video itself. When users find your video on their For You Page, they’ll be able to quickly spot the product and check out.

Product showcases

Starting from a brand’s or creator’s account, users can get access to products within the app and shop directly.

Add your product catalog to your profile and users can navigate to your page and quickly tab over to the basket icon to see everything you have to offer. 

How to Use TikTok Shop

For Sellers

As a TikTok Seller, your main priority would be to generate high conversions and sales. TikTok Shop has no redirection to any partnered shopping ads or websites, and keeps all sales and product displays in-app. The platform allows you to manage orders, tracking, shipping, returns, and payment methods all without leaving the app. Additionally, you are equipped with TikTok campaign platforms and promotion tools to help boost your products to audiences who are less familiar with your brand.

You’re also not only left to your own devices. Through TikTok Shop, you are able to collaborate with other Creators through the Affiliate Marketplace program. These Creators can help spread word about your products to their audiences, which can boost your brand visibility. Finally, you have access to countless performance metrics to help you assess where your strengths and weaknesses lie in your Shop. 

For Creators

Creators, your main focus for TikTok Shop is to find deals with brands you like, while still marketing your own products. Ease of use and quick reporting are two traits you’ll enjoy when it comes to TikTok Shop. 

With just a few taps, you can add products to videos and your profile and start selling, all without leaving TikTok. Plus, you can earn commission from affiliate opportunities; Creators get access to brand contacts directly to start promoting products they love. 

For Partners

Connect with Sellers and Creators and grow! TikTok Shop allows you to connect with TikTok audiences and find brands or Creators to collab with directly. Plus you can receive ecommerce and platform training to make your strategy as effective as possible. 

For Affiliates

TikTok Shop offers an affiliate program for Creators to find new ways to monetize. Sellers can find Creators to partner with and feature in content. This is a great way to tap into established audiences without having to build one.

Creators can access the Affiliate Product Marketplace to find products and Sellers to work with and earn commission from.

How to Launch a TikTok Shop

Whether you are a Seller, Creator, Partner, or are looking to tap into Affiliate ops, there are endless possibilities of growing your brand through TikTok Shop.

  1. Create a TikTok Business account, if you don’t have one already. If you need to create one, there is a review period of 2-3 days. You’ll need to register as a Seller.

  2. Once you’re up and running, it’s time to link the associated bank account and start uploading products. 

  3. Upload your product info in the Seller Center. There are product qualifications that you will need to be compliant with on TikTok Shop. You can learn more about that here.

  4. Once your products are uploaded, you can launch Live shopping streams, video ads, and product showcase tabs.
